การรักษาความสัมพันธ์ของครูไทยพุทธต่อชุมชนมุสลิมในสามจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้

Abstract

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการรักษาความสัมพันธ์ของครูไทยพุทธที่มีต่อชุมชนมุสลิมในสามจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ จากเอกสาร การสังเกต และการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก ผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลักที่เป็นครูไทยพุทธจำนวน 24 คน ครูมุสลิม ผู้ปกครอง และมุสลิมอื่นๆ ในชุมชนรอบโรงเรียนจำนวน 9 คน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ครูไทยพุทธมีรูปแบบการรักษาความสัมพันธ์ที่หลากหลาย โดยให้เงินหรือสิ่งของแก่นักเรียนและคนในครอบครัว แสดงความห่วงใยและใส่ใจสุขภาพนักเรียน การออกเยี่ยมบ้านนักเรียนเสมอ การส่งเสริมนักเรียนจนมีชื่อเสียงและรับรางวัล ทั้งนี้ครูต้องการแสดงถึงความจริงใจที่มีต่อชุมชน ครูสตรีแสดงความเป็นมิตรโดยสัมผัสร่างกายสตรีมุสลิม การจัดงานหรือกิจกรรมที่คำนึงความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรม การร่วมงานหรือกิจกรรมตามประเพณีมุสลิม การงดวิจารณ์เหตุรุนแรงในที่สาธารณชน การละเว้นพฤติกรรมที่อาจทำให้ชุมชนเข้าใจผิด เพื่อให้ครูไทยพุทธเป็นที่ยอมรับ วางใจ และได้รับการปกป้อง เมื่ออยู่ในชุมชน การรักษาความสัมพันธ์ยังแฝงด้วยความเกรงกลัว แต่ครูเชื่อว่าความเข้าใจและเข้าถึงวัฒนธรรมชุมชนมุสลิมช่วยลดปัญหาลง ความสัมพันธ์ของครูต่อชุมชนมุสลิมขึ้นอยู่กับลักษณะบุคลิกของครูเองและสถานการณ์ในชุมชน การทำหน้าที่อย่างเสียสละและอดทนยังช่วยลดช่องว่างระหว่างคนต่างศาสนาและสร้างสัมพันธภาพอันยืนยาว

The objective of this research was to examine relationship maintenance of Buddhist Thai teachers towards Muslim communities in the three Southern border provinces of Thailand. Data of this qualitative research were collected from related documents and through observations and interviews with key informants consisting of 24 Buddhist Thai teachers, and 9 other informants comprising Muslim teachers, parents and other Muslim in communities around the schools. The study found that Buddhist Thai teachers maintain their relationships with the communities in various ways. They give money or other things to students and their family members; express their concern and care for students’ health; visit students’ home regularly; promote students to achievements and receiving rewards; avoid criticizing the violence in public; avoid behaving in a way that may be misunderstood by the community to make Buddhist Thai teachers be accepted, trusted by the community, and protected when they are in the community. Even though their relationship maintenance conceals their fright, they believe that understanding and appreciation for Muslim community culture can mitigate the problems. Moreover, relationships between teachers and Muslim communities depend on each teacher’s personality and the situation in the community. Doing their work with dedication and perseverance is also for reducing the gap between people of different faiths as well as for long lasting relationships.
